Custom Guiding Services

Reservations can be made by telephone or e-mail, and must be followed within 10 days by a 50% deposit by check.

We will issue a full refund of your deposit up to 14 days before your scheduled arrival date. We must fill the dates with other clients before we can make a refund.

Clients can be met for no cost at their lodgings. Meeting places one or more hours away can be arranged for an additional $25 per driving hour.

We ask all customers to rent a fully insured vehicle of the appropriate size; if you prefer, your guide can do all the driving, but you must make certain that your rental company has approved the additional driver. Except after snow or heavy rain, most southern Arizona sites are accessible in a passenger car, but renting a four-wheel-drive, high-clearance vehicle is recommended for the many dirt and gravel roads.

In setting the schedule, our goal is to accommodate you. We can leave as early or late as you prefer. We can organize late-night or early-morning expeditions for owls and night-jars?  In general, our fee is determined by our stopping time.

Half day, up to 12:00 noon:             $150

Full day, up to 5:00 P.M.            $200

Day and evening, up to 11:00 P.M. $250

These fees are the total for one or two birders. Add $30 for each additional person up to four. Please inquire about rates for special owling trips.

If you are interested in a wildflower trip, the rates will be similar. Please inquire about the specific details.
